About Us
The Silver Pages started in 1992 as the first 50 plus lifestyle publication in Canada. But over the years, we noticed an increase in our readership that was in a desperate search for information on home health care and independent living. Our readers, the baby boomers and seniors were becoming major caregivers of a parent, spouse, companion or relative.
Over the years as many publishers followed our lead and created 50 plus lifestyle publications of their own, we realized that this niche market of home health care and independent living was overlooked and needed to be supported.
As we delved into this subject matter, we quickly realized that the average baby boomer and senior did not know where to turn to assist a member of the family that became ill and required increased care. We found that provincial governments created health authorities to provide home health care to the tax paying public but did not promote this fact. These authorities were afraid if the tax payer knew, they would drain the government's resources.
The Silver Pages' aim is to inform you of the services you are entitled to as well as educate you on all the elements that need to be consider when you start looking after that special loved one. Elements such as:
